Police hunt bank robbery suspect

Police are hunting for a suspect after a bank was robbed in east Mississauga this afternoon.
Peel Regional Police responded to the Royal Bank of Canada branch on Dixie Rd. near the Rockwood Mall after a man walked into the bank just after 4:15 p.m. and passed a note to the teller indicating he had a gun.
Police say the man fled the bank on foot with a large quantity of cash.
He is described as East Indian, five-foot-eight, wearing a white baggy T-shirt and white running shoes.
The force's Tactical Rescue Unit is on the scene and police have set up a perimeter in the area surrounding the bank. They have temporarily closed off several major intersections, including Fieldgate Dr. and Burnhamthorpe Rd.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Central Robbery Bureau at 905-453-2121, ext. 3410.
