Peel Regional Police asked grocery shoppers to cram their cruisers with food and money this past weekend, and the response was huge.
Peel police officers were at two Loblaws Great Canadian Superstores in Mississauga last Saturday, March 1 — one on Glen Erin Dr. and the other on Argentia Rd. — to collect food for local food banks.
They called the mission Cram-a-cruiser. Officers collected the food and then delivered it to Eden Community Food Bank and Deacon's Food Cupboard.
In total, 2,584 kilograms of food and $1,000 in cash were collected for the cause.
