Young fighter ready for grudge match

Light middleweight Tebor Brosch from Mississauga will step into the ring with Winnipeg's Codey Hanna for the third time on Tuesday night in Toronto.
Tebor Brosch has had just about enough of Winnipeg's Codey Hanna.
This Tuesday, the light middleweight from Mississauga will meet Hanna for the third time in his young professional boxing career and he hopes to knock him out and be rid of him for good.
In his pro debut, Brosch (1-2-1) lost a close four-round decision to Hanna (7-2-1) in January of last year. Their action-packed rematch three months later in Toronto was declared a draw.
Now they’ll meet for a third time at the Royal York Hotel for an annual night of boxing. Now in its 23rd year, the black-tie affair, for which ringside tables cost thousands of dollars, has raised millions for the theatre festival in Niagara-on-the-Lake.
“I’ve been waiting for this fight,” said Brosch. “The first fight was a close war in his hometown, and the second fight was a draw, but I thought it was my fight. This third fight I want to win decisively, and then I don’t want to hear about him, see him, or fight him ever again. I’ll move on to bigger and better things.”
Brosch’s last bout was a split decision loss to former Olympian Phil Boudreault on the undercard of Steve Molitor’s January title defense at Casino Rama. It was a fierce battle that many thought should have gone Brosch’s way. Rather than become discouraged, Brosch has been buoyed by advice from another heavyweight legend, Canadian sports hero George Chuvalo.
“(Chuvalo) came by the gym and we talked about the fight,” said Brosch of the former Canadian heavyweight champion, who is friends with the boxer’s manager, Marvin Elkind. “He watched the video and he gave me some tips.”
Getting words of advice from a man who had to work through his own share of tough losses in the ring before getting a shot at a title has been an inspiration for Brosch.
“I look up to Chuvalo. He’s a walking legend.”
