Suspicious death under investigation

Human remains found in wooded area

The Ontario Provincial Police is investigating a suspicious death, after the Renfrew detachment of the OPP responded to a call about 3:30 p.m. Sunday.

The call concerned the discovery of human remains in a wooded area of Greater Madawaska Township, near Norton Road.

Under the direction of OPP Det.-Inspector Kevin Corcoran, of the Criminal Investigation Branch, the death is being treated as suspicious.

The remains have not been identified, pending a post-mortem examination. The time and location of the examination are to be determined.  The OPP’s Emergency Response Team (ERT) is assisting in the investigation.
