Apartment damaged by fire

Mississauga firefighters responded quickly to a fire in an apartment on the top floor of a high rise in Mississauga Valleys this morning, putting the blaze out within 10 minutes.
Smoke was reported coming from a balcony just after 8:30 a.m. on the 23rd floor of a building at 3260 Kaneff Cres.
Crews rushed to the top floor of the building, where smoke was pouring out a window and balcony on the east side of the building. They applied water and fire-suppressing agents to put it out.
It was declared extinguished just after 8:40 a.m. A second alarm had been issued for the fire but was recalled once the fire was out.
No one was hurt in the fire. A cat which had been in the apartment was taken to a neighbour's and was uninjured.
The building is located just east of Hurontario St. Traffic was snarled in the area as a result of police blocking off roads and helping cars to exit from the building's under ground parking lot.
Light smoke was reported on the 23rd floor but there was no smoke reported on the floors below.
