Condie medals at World University championships

Condie medals at World University championships. Shannon Condie won a bronze medal at the World University Taekwondo championships in Serbia.

Mississauga’s Shannon Condie captured a bronze medal for Canada last Friday in Belgrade, Serbia at the 10th World University Taekwondo Championships.
Condie, who was competing in the women’s bantamweight division, won three matches before she was eliminated by eventual champion, Jin-Ah Nam of Korea, in the semi-finals. Yi-Hsuan Tseng of Chinese Taipei captured the silver medal.
A four-time Canadian senior champion and five-time national junior champion, the York University student added another line to an impressive resume that includes a silver medal from the Pan American Games last year. She also competed in the world championships in Beijing and the Summer Universiade in Bangkok last year.
Condie is gearing up for the Pan Am Championships, Oct. 1-6 in Puerto Rico.
Condie’s sister, Courtney, who'll attend York this fall after graduating from Applewood Heights Secondary School, also competed at the World University Championships, reaching the quarter-finals in the middleweight division.
The Condies were two of four athletes Canada sent to the competition. Featherweight Carla Bacco and heavyweight Magdalena Szczotka also made the trip.
