Barrhaven high school to fundraise for new computer lab.

Residents can help to fund a new computer lab at Longfields Davidson Heights Secondary School by dropping off their used electronic waste.
The school council has partnered with the Ontario Electronic Stewardship to collect used electronics from Jan. 8 to 12.
Lauralee Comeau, co-chair of the school council said the idea came from a teacher, who managed to raise $2,000 with the program.
“We just call the Ontario Electronic Stewardship when we are done and they will come pick everything up,” she said.
Comeau said due to the overcrowding at the Barrhaven High School another computer lab is sorely needed.
“We managed to get a deal on some used equipment so the fundraiser will pay for upgrading and things like that,” Comeau said.
Donna Blackburn the area trustee, helped to kick off the fundraiser by dropping off a used television.
“I think it’s a great fundraiser and I don’t have to go all the way to the east end to drop off my old TV,” Blackburn said.
Items that are permissible for the electronic waste collection are:
* Display devices, like monitors and televisions.
* Desktop computers or laptops.
* Printers, faxes or multi-use devices
* Answering machines.
* Cell phones or pagers.
* Home theatre equipment.
* Vehicle video/audio equipment.
* Still and video digital cameras.
