Second Tory seeks nomination

Beth Graham describes herself as feisty and fearless and she wants to take that to Queens Park.

As the latest candidate to seek Conservative nomination for Ottawa West-Nepean she plans to make every voice heard.

Graham was first asked to seek nomination by fellow Conservatives and since Graham has been shown a solid base of support.

“Many members actively urged me to run,” she said.

Graham’s plans for Ottawa West-Nepean are focused around saving the taxpayers’ money.

“The McGuinty government has brought the province into a $25-billion deficit. There’s a problem with mismanagement, a billion dollar boondoggle,” she said.

Graham lists eHealth and procurement as examples of areas she would like to see improved in the running of the province.

According to Graham, the McGuinty government currently ignores the procurement process.

“People who have the skills bid and take part in the process,” Graham said. “Instead people made money on the backs of tax payers, and that goes against everything government does,” Graham said.

Graham is proud of her Conservative past, values and contributions, claiming that she never once voted Liberal.

“Conservative in my mind means someone who is fiscally conservative, responsible for their actions, I believe in hand ups, not hand outs,” Graham said.

Graham said she has been encouraged to seek nomination repeatedly by her friends within the Conservative Party.

When asked about running against fellow Tory member, Mike Patton, Graham didn’t see it as a competition.

“We’re not running against each other, but for the Conservatives,” she said.

Graham has been a staunch Conservative for over 20 years and has hands-on experience at the community level. She was president of the Leslie Park Community Associaton, and the Nepean Federation of Community Associations.

Graham managed constituency affairs for Lisa MacLeod, MPP for Nepean-Carleton for almost three years. Before seeking nomination Graham served on the political staff for the federal Health Minister.
