To the editor:
I am
writing in response to the article on the front of the Arnprior
Chronicle-Guide.
I usually enjoy reading the paper, but this morning when I
retrieved it, my blood began to boil. The article on the front was disgusting.
I can't believe in this day and age that this is the sort of attitude people have
about wildlife.
My husband and I moved to Arnprior seven years ago; we had a child
and are choosing to raise a family here.
When I see an article like this on the front of my local paper, it
makes me embarrassed to live in Arnprior.
We moved from Ottawa
because we wanted to live closer to nature and so far Arnprior has been great,
but the attitudes of the locals make me feel sick to live here. If there
is one thing Arnprior needs less of, it is 'rednecks'.
I might be inclined to sponsor a ‘redneck kill contest’.
Imagine it, educated urbanites running around in Mountain Equipment Co-op
outfits, shooting guys in John Deere hats and bush jackets.
Maybe you could send Derek Dunn over to my house to interview me
about what a nuisance I find people with bad grammar and pick-up trucks. I
could be on the front page too.
