Vanier ball hockey players bring home world championship silver

Team Canada, featuring Ottawa Vanier Women’s Ball Hockey League players Elysia Desmier, Lesley McArthur, Alicia Blomberg, Erika Pouliot, Fannie Desforges, Susie Laska and Danika Smith, won a silver medal at the June 19-26 ball hockey world championships in Bratislava, Slovakia.

The Canadians didn’t allow a single goal as they outscored Austria, Greece (twice) and the U.S. by a combined 42-0 total to reach the final before the host Slovaks ended that streak with just over five minutes left in the championship game to take the title 1-0.
