What a difference a week makes in junior B hockey.
The Perth Blue Wings have jumped back up the standings and are now in a three-way tie for first place in the Eastern Ontario Hockey League’s Valley Division after earning two wins last week in regular season action.
With a busy three-game week on the road, the Wings captured wins over Almonte and Arnprior while dropping a 9-5 division to Ottawa West last Thursday night.
Sunday against Arnprior, the teams played through a one-all first period deadlock, then a 2-0 tie at the end of two, before scoring one in the third period for the 4-3 win.
Brett Madigan scored from Chris Goulet to open the first. Tanner Knight and Goulet got some help from Blair Barr on second period markers. Alex Szabo and Knight were also credited with assists.
In the third, Jacob Lyon scored the winner, with help from Barr and Szabo.
Saturday against the Thunder in Almonte, Perth exploded with four goals in the third period to claim a 6-3 victory.
Blair Barr scored twice to pace the Wings to victory, with singles coming from Austin Lamonte in the first, Riley Kane in the second and Chris Goulet and Brett Madigan in the third.
On Thursday in Ottawa, the Wings took one on the chin as they went down in a 9-5 defeat. Ottawa outshot Perth 49-24 and held period leads of 3-2 and 8-3.
Goals for the Blue Wings came from Barr and Goulet with two apiece and Madigan on the powerplay.
