Twice as nice for PDCI senior boys volleyball team

It’s twice as nice.

The Perth and District Collegiate Institute senior boys made it two in a row as they claimed the LCIAA volleyball championship yesterday with three straight wins over Notre Dame.

The Blue Devils had wins of 25-11, 25-21 and 25-12 to claim the cup for the second year in a row and will make their way to St. Mary of Brockville Thursday, Nov. 15 for the EOSSAA championships.

Coach Donna Rumball said she was pleased with the team’s efforts.

“The win was a good one for the most part,” she said. “The team played their game for the majority of the match but did falter a little in the second set.  Service reception passing still needs work. Our offense can do a lot more if the pass to the setter is there.”

Justin James led the team with six aces, eight kills and four stuffs followed by Eli Woods with two aces, seven kills and one stuff.

“They do have the ability and talent to win EOSSAA,” Rumball said. “But the whole team will need to bring it, and play as a team, on that day.”
