kemptville. Roger LeBlanc, Canadian Gazette

The Canadians made some headway in the standings Saturday night with a win over the Kemptville 73’s in Junior A hockey action.

Following a 7-2 loss to the Brockville Braves on Friday, the Canadians solidified their hold on their division’s third-place slot with a 3-0 win over the 73’s.

Luke Martin would open the scoring in the first period with assists from Zach Allen and Zach Rodier. Allen and Robbie Lepine would get the helpers for the next goal by Brock Plouffe about six minutes later.

Plouffe would get the game winner midway through the second period on a powerplay. Theo Hannah would get the assist.

There was no scoring in the third.

Scott Shackell would earn the shutout, stopping 20 shots. The Canadians put 28 shots on net.

Shackell has had three shutouts in his last four games.

Carleton Place’s next game is tonight (Dec. 3) in Cornwall and then Dec. 6 in Nepean.
