High scoring action in Carleton Place

Ottawa Junior Senators take 8-6 win against the Canadians

The goal judges in Carleton Place earned their pay Saturday.

A total of 14 goals were scored on the night, with the Ottawa Junior Senators taking the 8-6 win against the Canadians.

A flurry scoring meant neither side could hold a lead for more than a few minutes. By the time the opening period ended, the score was already 3-3.

Ottawa would score the only goal of the second period.

But the excitement returned in the third.

Carleton Place tied the game at four when Zach Allen grabbed a loose puck while shorthanded, danced around two Ottawa defenders and fired one past Sens goalie Niels-Erik Ravn.

But then Ottawa got three quick unanswered goals past Morgan Barr with about six minutes left in the game.

The Canadians, who are becoming known as a hard-working team that can’t be underestimated, rallied with a pair of Donovan Gardiner goals to pull within one.

Ottawa put the game out of reach with a goal in the final minute of play.

Ottawa outshot the Canadians 28-22.

Carleton Place’s next home game is Nov. 14 against Cornwall with a match against Gloucester the following night.
