The Carleton Place Canadians put their powerplay to work Friday night with a 4-1 win over the Cumberland Grads.

Philippe Adam got the Canadians on the board first with a powerplay goal midway through the first period.

Carleton Place’s own Zach Farris netted the Canadians’ second goal of the night with about eight minutes left to go in the second frame.

In the third period, the Grads’ Mitchell Gallant got a powerplay goal to keep Cumberland in the game after Luke Martin took a hooking penalty.

But Canadian Tyler Kotlarz scored a powerplay goal about two minutes later putting the home team ahead 3-1.

With time running out, Cumberland pulled goalie Adam Ladroute. The Canadians held the Grads off and Samuel Coyne was able to get the empty-netter with one second left on the clock for the 4-1 final.

The Canadians outshot the Grads  36-20.

The Brockville Braves host the Canadians Friday night at 7:30 p.m. On Saturday night, the Ottawa Junior Senators come to Carleton Place.
