The Canadians dug deep and powered back from a 3-1 deficit
to beat the Nepean Raiders 5-4 on Sunday.
Carleton Place
was behind for most of the first period until Richard Stethem got a powerplay goal with less than a minute on
the clock. Assists went to Aaron MacCosham and Brock Plouffe.
Stethem would take an unsportsmanlike penalty before the
horn sounded, setting up a powerplay goal in the opening seconds of the second
period.
The Canadians put a stop to any kind of Raider rally and would
go on a scoring streak, getting three goals in about five minutes.
The Carleton Place
goals came from Zach Allen, Samuel Coyne and Robbie Lepine.
Nepean
would get on the board one more time before the end of the period, tying the
game at four a piece going into the third.
About midway through the final frame, Allen and Donovan
Gardiner would set up Plouffe for the game winning goal.
The Raiders put 54 shots on net with Morgan Barr stopping 17
and Scott Shackell turning aside 37. The Canadians got 38 shots.
