The Canadians were trampled by the Cornwall Colts Thursday
night in an 8-0 loss.
Playing in front of a hometown crowd of nearly 1,000 fans,
the Colts would score three times in the first period.
They would get two more in the second before Canadians goaltender
Scott Shackell took a penalty for throwing his stick. That resulted in a
penalty shot which earned the Colts one more goal.
Cornwall
would get a shorthanded goal in the final minute of the period to add insult to
injury.
Another shorthanded goal by the Colts would come in the
third period for the 8-0 win.
While the scoreboard was clearly lopsided, the same couldn’t
be said for the shot clock.
The Canadians got off a respectable 31 shots compared to the
Colts’ 34. Carleton Place
would in fact outshoot Cornwall
15-4 in the final period.
The Canadians’ next game is Sunday in Nepean at 2:30 p.m.
