The Canadians fought hard, but came up short against the Jr.
Senators in Ottawa
Wednesday night.
Carleton Place gave up an early lead and had to fight back
in the third, but couldn’t overtake Ottawa
who took the 6-4 victory.
The Dec. 16 match
started off with Tyler Kotlarz putting Carleton Place on the board first with
assists from Brock Plouffe and Richard Stethem.
About 10 minutes later, Zach Rodier and Luke Martin would
feed Samuel Coyne to put the Canadians up 2-0.
Ottawa’s
Pierre-Michel Legare would get
an unassisted goal before the period was up.
The Jr. Senators built some momentum after the first
intermission getting two more goals in the second period.
Early in the third frame, Nicholas Belleville would get a short-handed goal giving Ottawa a 4-2 lead.
The Canadians would
make a powerplay count when Coyne scored his second of the night, with assists
from Rodier and Theo Hannah.
The Senators would strengthen their lead with a goal about
four minutes later.
But with two minutes left in the game and down by two, Plouffe would score to breathe life
back into the Canadians. Assists came from Stetham and Hannah.
That would be as
close as Carleton Place
would get after Ottawa’s
Matt White put the game out of reach with two seconds left on the clock, for
the 6-4 win.
The Canadians
outshot the Jr. Senators 28-27.
