Canadians down Hawks

Carleton Place crowd treated to high-scoring match

CARLETON PLACE  - Hockey fans who love a good offensive game were treated to a high-scoring affair Tuesday night.

The Jr. A Canadians seemed to be dialed in right off the opening face off, scoring three unanswred goals in the first period against the Hawkesbury Hawks.

Carleton Place would take the game 8-5.

It was the second period in particular that got the crowd of nearly 400 excited.

The two teams would score five goals in about three minutes. Before the announcer could tell fans who scored, the buzzer would ring up another goal.

The goal judges were given a break for a few minutes and then there was another cluster of goals before the period ended.

While the scoring all but disappeared in the third, the Canadians and Hawks continued to drive hard for the net.

Even with less than a minute left on the clock and down by four, the Hawks kept their heads in the game and managed to find the back of the Canadians' net one last time.

The Canadians would outshoot the Hawks 32-30.

Carleton Place goal scorers included Brock Plouffe, Matt English, Samuel Coyne (2), Luke Martin, Zach Allen and Tyler Kotlarz (2).

The Canadians' next game is in Kemptville on Dec. 27.
