Stallions trample Canadians

Brockville Braves take 7-1 victory over Carleton Place

The Canadians’ Brock Plouffe recorded a hat trick against Kanata on Jan. 3, but it wasn’t enough for a win.

The Stallions took the 9-7 win after a four-goal blitz in the third period.

Kanata opened the scoring, but the Canadians came back with two. Richard Stethem  got the unassisted goal with Plouffe following a minute later, assisted by Stethem and  Tyler Kotlarz.

The Stallions would get one more to tie the period at the first intermission.

Carleton Place and Kanata would trade three goals a piece in the second period.

Canadians scorers were Kotlarz (from Plouffe and Stethem ), Zach Rodier (from Donovan Gardiner and Mitch Melanson) and Plouffe (from Stethem and Kotlarz).

Kanata would score right off the opening face off in the third period and would go on to score three more unanswered goals.

Stethem (from Ryan Lowe and Theo Hannah) would get the Canadians back on track with about five minutes left in the game and behind the Stallions 9-6.

A Stallions hooking penalty set up Plouffe’s third of the night, with assists from Kotlarz and Gardiner.

The comeback would run out of time, letting Kanata take the 9-7 win.

The Canadians would be outshot 39-24.

Braves 7, Canadians 1

The Brockville Braves fired a total of 41 shots at the Canadians’ Scott Shackell in the 7-1 defeat.

The Braves would score four unanswered goals in the first period, with two on coming on powerplays.

Brockville would get two more in the second frame before Carleton Place’s Robbie Lepine put the home team on the board.

The Braves would get one more goal late in the third for the win in front of crowd of about 400 hockey fans.

The Canadians would be outshot 19-41.
