Renfrew rep teams inch closer to finals

Novice, Peewee, Minor Midget Wolves one win away

Three Renfrew rep hockey teams are potentially one win away from a berth in their respective Upper Ottawa Valley Hockey League championships series.
The Novice Wolves clawed  their way back into their series with a 4-3 win in Petawawa Thursday.
Angus Duchene had a hat trick and Ryan Kelusky a single to help the Wolves force a third and deciding game.
Chase Congdon added three assists while Owen Osborne backstopped the victory.
The Novice Wolves had two wins and two losses in the Arnprior tournament.
Reid Greer, Angus Duchene and Chase Congdon had two goals. Carter Jarrett, Braeden Curley and Connor Buffam shared singles.
The Peewee Wolves have a 3-1 points lead after skating to a 1-1 deadlock with the Packers in Arnprior.
Jared Burnette scored his ninth goal of the playoffs.
Jacob Miller was between the pipes.
Pat Bruzas posted his 10th shutout and the Minor Midget Wolves opened their UOVHL semifinal with a 4-0 win in Arnprior.
Billy Karras had two goals. Singles came from Adam Wright and Carson Barber. Kevin Crozier pegged three helpers.
The Blackburn Wild edged the Ottawa West Golden Knights 2-1 to capture the Minor Midget Wolves tournament at the MAC Saturday.
Brent Stewart had both Blackburn goals. The winner came with 25 seconds remaining.
The Minor Midget Wolves downed Petawawa 3-1, lost 2-1 to Blackburn, and 2-1 in a shootout to Ottawa West.
Justin Visinski, Adam Wright and Ben Kubiseski scored in the win.
Carson Barber scored to keep the Wolves in contention in each of the other two games.
The Atom Timberwolves suffered three two-goal losses in a season-closing tournament in Eganville.
Kelson Hart had three goals and Avery Campbell two. Singles came from Connor Zohr, Carter Sammon and Alex Vanderploeg.
Summer Simons and Jothathan Roach divided time between the pipes for the Atom Wolves.

House Hockey
The Rink Rat Pro Shop opened their novice house semifinal playoff series with a solid 5-1 triumph in Arnprior.
Gavin Halk paced the Rat attack with a four-goal performance. Jack McLeod added a single. Rylie Moore backstopped the victory.
Arnprior edged Canadian Tire in the atom playoffs 2-1.
Christopher Cayen scored while Meadon Congdon handled goaltending duties.
Arnprior won the series with a 4-1 win over Canadian Tire Sunday morning.
Barker’s went 0-and-4 in a double round-robin atom playoff after dropping 2-0 and 2-1 decisions to Deep River.
Hunter Bovair scored. Brody Bennett was in goal for the Renfrew side.
Fulton’s routed Deep River 9-2 and 7-1 to win their peewee semifinal in quick fashion.
Nicholas Wright had six goals (two hat tricks) and Brett Clouthier four goals to pace Fulton’s. Daniel Brisco scored twice. Hunter Gilchrist, Darin Verch, Ethan Joudrey and Cody Mackin collected singles.
Gilchrist added six assists and Brooke Congdon three.
Mason Lynch posted the two goaltending wins.
Fulton’s also went 1-and-1 in a Deep River tournament.
The Renfrew team defeated Barry’s bay 4-1 and lost 5-4 to Deep River.
Darin Verch (hat trick) and Cody Mackin had three goals. Clouthier and Wright notched others. Lynch and Joudrey shared goaltending duties.
