The Central Canada Hockey League is a Tier 1 Junior ‘A’ hockey league with teams in Ottawa and the surrounding area. Started in 1961 as the Ottawa-Hull District Hockey League by the Montreal Canadiens, who used it as part of its developmental system, the league now features 12 teams competing in two divisions. A number of National Hockey League stars, including Steve Yzerman, Larry Robinson, Billy Smith and Martin St. Louis, at one time plied their trade in the CCHL. The Pembroke Lumber Kings are the reigning league and national champions.
