STITTSVILLE - “Joy to the World,” “Jingle
Bells,” “Jolly Old Saint Nicholas” and “Deck the Halls” are all traditional
favourite Christmas carols and all were heard at a retirement residence in Kanata thanks to the
Stittsville concert band.
The band, which was formed in
September 2008, delivered its second annual Christmas concert on Sunday
afternoon, Dec. 13 at the new Eagleson
Road retirement residence.
Since its formation, the band
has played over ten concerts including functions for the Stittsville branch of
the Royal Canadian Legion which recently became the major sponsor of the band.
The band, which is under the
direction of Frank Martens and Karen Wiggins, is comprised of musicians of many
different ages and backgrounds but all with a desire to play music in community
